Getting Ready for Practice/Swim Season

Posted by Katie Harmon at Jul 29, 2016 3:59PM PDT

I apologize in advance for the lengthy announcement. Lots of new at the start of the season.

Reminder that the kids will be having a Team Building Fun Morning on Saturday at 10 at the Lansbrook Commons. We have 2 parents there to pick up apparel orders, any completed forms, and payment including the square for credit card payments.

Practice starts on Monday at 2:30, make sure you bring your suits, goggles, WATER TO DRINK, towel, running shoes, and clothes to run in. Bring your fins and paddles if you have them. Make sure you pass the information on to anyone new or who does not receive the information from this website.

If you did not order your team suit, please call Total Team Wares as soon as possible at 407-644-1333. Make sure to tell them you are ordering for ELHS swim and dive.

All PCSB paperwok (13 page packet located in documents or on the schools website) must be completed and turned in prior to practicing. You can turn the paperwork in to Mr. Toscani, athletic director at ELHS before 3 any day next week, or bring to practice. Remember that a physical, accident insurance, and the concussion video must be watched prior to practicing. Please see the required paperwork section for links to student insurance and concussion site. For the concussion video, you will need to log on to watch and print the certificate at the end. Make a copy before turning in.

All booster club forms (commitment, dues, and apparel forms) can be sent in with your child on Saturday or practice. The first apparel order will be this weekend. Please email your form to Sandra Bratic @ sbsbd071@hotmail.com. Her cell is 727-743-6820

Thanks and have a great weekend!

Evening, I wanted to thank the parents, the parents on the boosters staff, as well as the athletes for the warm reception given to me during last evenings signup.

It seems as though most of the concerns brought up last night were mostly about scheduling conflicts with other sports, vacations previously planed, and conflicts due to other academic pursuits.

I am going to accept that HS is a time of exploration and enrichment for kids. With that in mind, I am going to allow kids who participate in other sports to miss one weekly practice if they provide me with confirmation that the alternative sport is meeting at a concurrent time with our practice. As for music, fine arts, I will allow the same, given confirmation by the teacher or parents. I must remind all parents and student athletes that there is no substitute for practice and training. As with everything in life, no one can expect their best performance unless they practice. The coaching staff will maintain complete discretion to determine what is best for the team as a whole. We owe it to the reputation of the athletes and the school to win, with the knowledge that they are of course, students first. The stop watch will however be the main determinate for the selection of athletes in events at swim meets, in order for the team to accumulate the points necessary to win.

With regard to previously planned vacations, I will allow the first two days Aug 1,2, to be missed but only for incoming freshman. Make ups however will be necessary, either in the pool or on the dry land workouts, however after Aug 3 they will forfeit there one day freebee.

Practice times changed 230-445, starting August 1st.

I have not received Bio/ goal sheets from many athletes

Informational Meeting Tuesday, June 26th

Posted by Katie Harmon at Jul 18, 2016 1:24PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The 2016 season is just around the corner. We will be using Team Pages again as a form of communication this year.

An email was recently sent out by ELHS for the upcoming Athletic Information Meeting. We will be having our parent meeting on that night as well, Tuesday July 26th. 6 pm at the school theater. We will have new suits this year so make sure that swimmers are there to be fitted.

All paperwork will be there for you to pick up. A notary will be there to sign off on you papers as well. You can also print the new registration forms on Team Pages and fill them out prior to the meeting. The school forms are 13 pages in length, so plan accordingly. On Team Pages, under documents, you will also find this year’s Booster Club Dues Form, Apparel Form for Boosters (not Team Wares), PCSB Volunteer Form, and volunteer opportunities, as well as several other documents that might be useful to you.

Before starting practice all your paperwork, insurance, and physicals must be turned in. If you don’t have it completed prior to practice you cannot participate.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Thank you,

ELHS Swim & Dive Boosters
