Good Evening Parents and Swimmers!

I would like to invite you to the Virtual Parent Orientation Meeting via Zoom. We should know by Thursday, what is going to happen with our team. The topics that we will be discussing are as follows:

- Swimmer Paperwork Submission
- Parent Volunteer Requirements
- SwimSuit Orders
- Season Schedule
- Practice Times
– Please be advised that we would like to take a vote as to when your child practices. A majority vote does not constitute a change in practice times, but it will allow everyone to understand the wants and needs of those who are participating. The YMCA has changed the High School schedule this year. The practice times for High School Only Participants is currently between 7pm-8pm. We are proposing a schedule change to the YMCA to have it, as we have had in years previous, to 2pm-3pm. This would allow for your child to go directly to the YMCA and swim for the alloted hour. The YMCA has already approved their fall schedule and they are doing everything that they can to accomodate us. They would have to move their current schedule back 1/2 hour so our swimmers could swim earlier rather than later. These issues are all due to constraints that the COVID-19 has put on everyone. We would like to hear what you have to say, so please let us know. Keep in mind that if your child is a “Club” swimmer, they will be swimming under PYP. So therefore the current schedule has one group starting at 2:30-4:30 and the second group coming in at 5:30-7. We are hoping to move these times back 1/2 hour to accomodate “High School Swimming” between 2-3pm.
- Code of Conduct/ See Something Say Something

*THE MEET & GREET IS POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!

Good Evening Swimmers and Parents,

Our Fall Sports Season is still hanging in limbo as the FHSAA has voted for Fall Sports to begin on August 24, 2020, it is up to each county to specify each start date for each sport. We are hopeful that we will be able to start on August 24,2020. The Pinellas County School Board is meeting early next week to discuss these issues. We are unable to move forward with our Meet & Greet until after the start of the swim season.

I am just as disappointed as you are! I was really looking forward to seeing you all again and starting the season of right. But just hang in there! There are many people working around the clock so that we may have a safe and healthy season. Until we have a solid date, keep up the great work in the pool! If you don’t have access to a pool, there are many great dry land videos that can be found on Youtube.

Please be sure that you all your paperwork is filled out and submitted. You can find all the information for the Athletic Packets here:

https://www.pcsb.org/domain/4371

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or the coaches. We would be happy to help!!

See you at the pool!

HAPPY MONDAY SWIMMERS, DIVERS, COACHES AND PARENTS,

A lot is happening in a very short period of time. Even though our season is hanging in limbo right now, we, (The ELHS Swim & Dive Booster Club Board members and coaches), have decided to have a kick off party like we have had in the past. Typically this would be the time to have our parent orientation as well. We will still be doing that, however, that will be done via Zoom. Stay tuned for more details to come.

Just in case you are not aware, Hillsborough County Schools have decided to go virtual for the first quarter. Pinellas County has called an emergency meeting that will happen tomorrow. We will know by the end of the week how to proceed with the rest of the season. The FHSAA is having their meeting late on Friday afternoon, August 14,2020.

Here are the details for the ELHS Swim & Dive Team COVID Cautious Meet & Greet POOL PARTY

When: August 16, 2020

Time: 11:00 AM

Where: 3000 Leprechaun Lane, Palm Harbor FL

This is for Athletes Only! Please enter the pool deck by going around the side of the house. Wear your bathing suit. Bring a chair and a towel.

Dear Swimmers and Parents,

I am hopeful that this email finds you all safe and well!!

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jody Sanders and I am the East Lake High School Swim & Dive Booster Club President. I am looking forward to a great swim season no matter what!! Right now we are still waiting to receive word from the Pinellas County Athletic Director regarding a start date for the Fall Sports programs. We should have this information by Friday. This is a very fluid situation and we will keep you notified of any and all changes as we are notified, as soon as possible.

If you are receiving this email and you are no longer on the team or you are not intending on participating this year, please click the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email, or reply by stating your name and that you are no longer interested in the ELHS Swim & Dive Team. If your intentions are to participate this year, please respond to this email by stating the following:

Name
Age
Grade
Email
Phone
Address

While we are waiting for the county, if you would like to be on the team, we would like for you to begin the process by filling out your paperwork that is required for this year. Here is the information that you need to know if you are interested in joining the ELHS Swim & Dive team for the 2020 Fall season. You must be registered as a student at East Lake High School for the 2020-2021 school year.

Please follow the link below to ELHS Athletics website for instructions on paperwork.

https://www.pcsb.org/domain/4371

Please do not complete paper copies of Athletic Packets at this time. ELHS has converted to an online platform. The online platform, Athletic Clearance.com is up and ready, please follow the link above to complete the online form. You will need only to print the notarized participation form, the physical form for the doctor to complete, and the final confirmation page.

Information Needed:

Student info
Notarized signatures
Insurance requirement
Physical evaluation by healthcare provider
Consent and release
Concussion Video (http://www.nfhslearn.com/) (students must create an account, log in, and enroll in the Concussion in Sports for students Course. Print out the form upon completion and bring to coach)

All high school athletes in Florida must have a physical exam by their doctor. The “High School Activities Participation Form” includes 2 pages that you must take to your doctor to complete. Other forms are not accepted by the schools. The doctor’s exam is valid for 365 days for all high school activities, so they are covered for the full school year. If you need a physical, we do have approved chiropractors in the area that will do a $20 physical. I will send this information in a separate email.

All high school athletes in Pinellas County must buy the PCSB-approved athletics insurance policy. It is not expensive (about $6).

All parents should complete a volunteer form. This is needed for any school activity that a parent may want to volunteer to help during the school year. The Swim & Dive team needs parent volunteers to run the home dual meets and the Eagle Invitational swim meet. It is required for all volunteer activities like timing at a swim meet or participating in fundraising. And, the team gets credit from the school for the number of volunteers we get. This is absolutely mandatory this year and we really need parents to step up and volunteer. After we have a start date for our practices, we will conduct a Zoom meeting that will go over all the paperwork and volunteer requirements. Parents are asked to work several events (home dual meets, Eagle Invitational, Regional Championships, etc.). Sign up information will be coming. Students must have an unweighted cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater to participate in high school sports (Freshmen must have been regularly promoted to 9th grade). Freshmen (or first year swimmers) must bring an original birth certificate to the meeting (it will be returned).

Please feel free to contact me with any and all questions. We will keep you informed and we are looking to have a great East Lake High School Swim & Dive season!!

See you at the pool!

ESCAPE TO THE GLORY DAYS!!

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE!!
THE BOOSTER CLUB WILL PAY FOR THE ATHLETE’S DINNER AND ESCAPE ROOM!!!

This has come after much deliberation regarding the team budget. We did recieve our last two Tampa Bay Bucaneer proceeds and with that, we have all agreed that the Booster Club can afford to pay for the Athlete’s Banquet dinner/Escape room fee of $20!

We all would like to thank the hard work of our parents throughout the entire season! We are happy to be able to pass this savings on to you!

If you have not made the decision to join us tomorrow, please do so today by clicking the link below!
